High Desert Wins Habitat Award! |
|---|
| Our chapter was honored by Quail Unlimited as the top habitat group in Region 3 (Western States) Western QU Director, Dick Haldeman, sent this note “The High Desert is the number one habitat chapter in the Nation for chapters earning less than $7,500, Congratulations.”. We received the special plaque at the recent Quail Unlimited National Convention in July, in Overland Park, Kansas. According to Roger Wells who is doing the stats for QU, there is no other chapter in our division that’s even close. They could not believe the amount of hours and miles we put in. In addition to the plaque shown above, the chapter won a shotgun which we can use as a raffle prize. It’s a Browning Super Lite 12 ga, 28 inch barrel with gold engraving. One side has a Ca quail in gold on the other side is the engraving of the U.S. and in gold is the location where the Ca. Quail can be found. There are only ten made and they are new to the market. thanks to Bill Dobbs, John Shaver, Carl West, our habitat coordinators, and all those who worked so many hours, drove so many miles on our projects. This past year, we did a lot of repair work on guzzlers, transported a lot of water for wildlife, and put in many hours at Camp Cady working on programs there as well. With as good a group of volunteers as we have in this chapter, there’s little doubt we can repeat this in future years. |
